Yes, ChiArts has a contract with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) which makes it a public school. As a contract school with Chicago Public Schools, ChiArts is able to have an equitable audition process instead of the CPS lottery system. More than 1,000 Chicago students audition annually for approximately 180 available first year seats.

ChiArts’ academics and faculty salaries from 8 AM – 1 PM are funded by the Chicago Public Schools on a per-pupil basis.

Visit ChiArts in Humboldt Park on 2714 West Augusta Boulevard Chicago, Illinois. Every year, ChiArts releases its production calendar in September on https://chiarts.org/performances/ and provides performance updates on social media. Tickets can be purchased online on the performances webpage or onsite at ChiArts’ box office. The ChiArts building has capacity to host all on-campus events. Production and exhibition spaces include the Jim and Kay Mabie Auditorium, ChiArts Black Box Theatre, Third Floor Dance Studios, ChiArts Visual Arts Gallery (Room 120), ChiArts Courtyard, and ChiArts Music’s Performance Hall (Room 121).

ChiArts is open to any student who lives in Chicago’s 50 wards. As a contract school with Chicago Public Schools, prospective students submit a high school application for ChiArts by using the GoCPS application (go.cps.edu). After applying online, ChiArts offers auditions on-campus, and remote opportunities for those who can’t make an in-person audition. For more information regarding the admissions process and events, visit chiarts.org and click “Prospective Students.”
